26.02.26 | Artificial Intelligence Colloquium (AIC) at RWTH Aachen University
The Artificial Intelligence Colloquium (AIC) at RWTH Aachen University will host a lecture on Logic-Based Explainability in AI on 26 February 2026, with hybrid participation from Aachen.
The session will be delivered by João Marques-Silva (ICREA / University of Lleida), a leading expert in automated reasoning and symbolic approaches to artificial intelligence. His work addresses foundational challenges in explainable AI (XAI), with a strong focus on robustness, correctness, and trustworthiness.
As explainability becomes increasingly central to the deployment of trustworthy and human-centred AI systems, the talk will examine limitations of widely used non-symbolic XAI techniques and present symbolic, logic-based alternatives for generating reliable and verifiable explanations—particularly relevant for regulated and high-risk AI applications.
The colloquium will be organised by the Center for Artificial Intelligence of the RWTH Aachen University and is open to researchers, students, and practitioners interested in explainable AI, symbolic reasoning, and trustworthy AI. An in-person networking reception will follow the talk.
The AIC is aimed primarily at researchers and master students and will be held in a hybrid form. A registration is until 19/02/2026 necessary in order to receive the login details for the Zoom meeting.
