European sovereignty in AI is an ambitious objective that requires a holistic approach at multiple levels (national, European and global) to be effective.
At the national level, Inria is coordinating the research component of the national plan on AI that was initiated in March 2018. On a global level it hosts one of the two centres of expertise in the framework of the GPAI.
The CAIRNE network forms a pan-European Confederation of Laboratories for Artificial Intelligence Research in Europe, with close to 300 French supporters and over 30 French Research Network Members. The network is committed to working together towards realising a common vision: European excellence across all of AI, for all of Europe, with a human-centred focus.
Inria fully adheres to these values and therefore created in September 2020 the CAIRNE Paris Office.
What we do
The CAIRNE Paris Office has four main missions:
- Act as a contact point for AI researchers and AI industry in France that wish to connect to CAIRNE
- Liaison for CAIRNE members (and beyond) with the European partnership on AI, Data and Robotics (ADR Partnership) and the AI, Data and Robotics Association (Adra)
- Act as CAIRNE ’s liaison to the OECD in the GPAI
- Create a link between the general public and research on AI
