Release of the Joint Strategic Research Innovation and Deployment Agenda for the Artificial Intelligence, Data and Robotics Partnership
Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data and Robotics are areas where Europe needs a comprehensive plan to maintain a global lead, in business and research. These are defining technologies which are increasingly important for our economy, but that will also significantly influence our society and where we stand on the world political stage. In that respect, Europe must now lead the way on digital.
To achieve this vision, the European Commission announced last year its intention to establish a contractual co-programmed partnership (shortened to PPP) in the area of Artificial Intelligence, Data and Robotics, an instrument used by the Commission to engage the private sector, both as a collaborator in developing investment programs and as a co-investor in projects. The instrument is also used to increase collaboration between academia and businesses.
At the end of 2019, the Commission invited CLAIRE, the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) and the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EurAI) to join the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) and euRobotics towards establishing a strategy, organisation and platform for this PPP. Inside CLAIRE, a work group was established to represent the network during the setup of the PPP.
As a result, CLAIRE jointly developed with its four partners a Joint Strategic Research, Innovation and Deployment Agenda (SRIDA) for the AI, Data and Robotics Partnership leveraging on a public consultation that was carried out from mid-august to beginning of September. CLAIRE has in particular contributed to the “Deep Dive” section for Artificial Intelligence. We’d like to thank all of you who contributed with their insights and comments. The SRIDA was officially presented last Tuesday (September 22th) during the R&I days.
