In our ongoing effort to connect advances in artificial intelligence with robotics, CAIRNE has established a collaborative relationship with euRobotics, one of Europe’s foremost associations supporting robotics research, development, and innovation. Founded in 2012, euRobotics serves as a pan-European network of institutions, companies, and research groups, with a mission to boost Europe’s competitiveness in robotics, foster adoption of robotic technologies, and maintain excellence in the robotics science base.
A notable point of intersection between CAIRNE’s interests and euRobotics’ domain is encapsulated in the Moonshot in Artificial Intelligence proposal (November 2023), developed by CAIRNE in partnership with euRobotics. This visionary document outlines a bold ambition: by the end of the decade, to provide European citizens, industries, and public institutions with trustworthy, generative AI systems — developed in Europe — that can safely interact with the physical world. cairne.eu This collaboration signals a shared strategic orientation: to combine AI and robotics in ways that reflect European values, ensure technological sovereignty, and support systems that can operate in real-world settings.
In our collaboration, CAIRNE brings its strengths in human-centred AI, data-driven methods, and community building, while euRobotics offers deep domain insight, connections to robotics stakeholders, and visibility in the robotics ecosystem. Through shared workshops, alignment of visions and roadmaps, and joint outreach efforts, we aim to strengthen the interface of AI and robotics in Europe — particularly for applications that demand safe physical interaction, trustworthiness, and societal acceptance.
Looking forward, CAIRNE and euRobotics will continue to nurture this relationship — emphasizing strategic alignment, thematic exchange, and cross-community dialogue — with the goal of helping Europe lead in AI-enabled robotics that are robust, ethical, and rooted in European values.
